Vi Peel After Care

Four hours post treatment:

Cleanse skin with Vi Derm Cleanser. Rinse with cool or warm water and pat dry.

Apply the 1st towelette. The towelette is to be rubbed vigorously over the entire treated surface of the skin. Problem area may be rubbed more vigorously for best results. The skin should not be cleansed after the towelette application.

Those with darker skin must apply the Post Peel Protectant after the towelette has been fully absorbed.

Night 1 - On hour before bedtime:

Cleanse the skin with Vi Derm Cleanser. Rinse with cool or warm water and pat dry. Apply the 2nd towelette provided in the post peel package.

*If Vi Peel application was later in the evening, you may use the 2nd towelette the following morning.

Day 2 - Morning:

Cleanse with Vi Derm Cleanser. Rinse with cool or warm water and pat dry. Apply the Vi Derm Post Peel Protectant , wait until it fully absorbs, then apply Vi Derm SPF 50. Apply both every two hours.

Night 2 - One hour before bedtime:

Cleanse skin with VI Derm Cleanser. Rinse with cool or warm water and pat dry. Apply the 3rd towelette.

IMPORTANT- Fitzpatrick Skin Types 4, 5 and 6 must be applied to Post Peel Protectant after towelette has been fully absorbed.

Day 3-7:

Morning and night cleanse skin with VI Derm Cleanser. During the day use the Post Peel Protectant and SPF 50+ every two hours. At night use the Post Peel Protectant.

Peeling usually begins by Day 3. Once the skin starts peeling, do not to peel or pick at the skin. Excess skin may be trimmed away with small scissors. This is very important because such actions may cause irritation, scarring or pigmentation. After your skin is done peeling ( around Day 7), you can go back on your normal skin care routine. It is important that you do not elevate your body temperature or perform activities that cause you to perspire for at least five days after the peel. This includes exercise, hot tubs, saunas, hot showers or baths.

Receiving a chemical peel during summer months increases the chance of hyperpigmentation. Because of this increased risk, it is imperative to follow after care instructions diligently.

During the peel phase sun exposure must be avoided. The use of sunscreen is essential. You may go outside once the peeling subsides, but your skin will be more sensitive to UV rays. You must apply SPF every two hours when outdoors.

Starting on Day 2 apply Post Peel Protectant every two hours.

Do not exfoliate or use a facial brush for at least 10 days after receiving the peel.

During the peeling process use the Vi Derm Cleanser included in your after care kit. If more cleanser if needed we suggest our Limu Cleanser.

Do not pick or peel skin as this may cause scarring. Allow skin to shed naturally. You may trim excess skin with a small pair of scissors.

Refrain from any activity that induces excessive perspiration for 3-4 days following the peel as this may lead to blistering and/or hyperpigmentation.

Following these directions closely will reduce risks as well as itching and discomfort.

BHRT Pellet Insertion

Pre Pellet Insertion Instructions

Avoid alcohol, fish oil, Non-steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Aspirin, Aleeve, Midol, Pamprin, Celebrex, Mobic, and other drugs in this class), oral vitamins A, D, E, and K, CLA and other fat metabolizing supplements three days prior to pellet insertion. These drugs can cause increased likelihood of bleeding.

Post Pellet Insertion Instructions

  • Remove pressure dressing after 24 hours leaving the steri-strip in place.
  • Keep wound completely dry until the following day. After that, showering is OK. Avoid soaking in tubs, pools, or baths for at least 3 days.
  • Leave steri-strip on wound until it falls off (usually 7 days).
  • Avoid vigorous exercise for 72 hours to reduce chance of bruising, oozing, or infection, or delayed wound healing. Avoid massage therapy at pellet site.
  • A little redness, bruising, and swelling for 3-7 days is normal. The area may be tender for 4-14 days (possibly more for men)

Avoid Non-steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Aspirin, Aleeve, Celebrex, Midol, Pamprin, Mobic, and other drugs in this class ) while on BHRT therapy as they may interfere with the absorption of the pellet. If pain medication is needed, Tylenol may be used.

If you have continued bleeding, significant redness, pain (without putting pressure on the wound), warmth, fever, or pus from the wound, call us immediately-you might need an antibiotic. This happens rarely, but infection is always a possibility with any kind of invasive procedure.
